What is graffiti? In dictionary, It means a rude decoration inscribed on wall or rock, or inscription, figure drawing, etc. found on the walls of ancient sepulchers or ruin as in the catacombs etc. In my opinion, I agree that graffiti is a bit rude, but still, it's part of art and it's the way for some people to express their creativity, also I think that some graffiti that we found while we were passing road are nice, and it becomes a decoration for the road itself.

Culture of Indonesia: Padang Cuisine

Decided to do a blogpost about Padang Cuisine because I just finished my Drawing Fundamental works and randomly craved for Padang Cuisine. Padang Cuisine is one of famous Indonesian dish, It is known across indonesia as a dish from Padang, a capital city from West Sumatra. Padang cuisine commonly can be found almost everywhere in Indonesia and it has rich taste of coconut milk and spicy chili. Usually the cuisine is cooked once a day, and displayed in front of restaurant. Customer who come will be directly seated and the waiter will serves dishes direct on the table. Customer only take and pay what they want from this array. Below is some example of Padang Cuisine.
After 16 years being a creative director of the French Design House, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs decides to leave the company to focus on his label. It's confirmed by Louis Vuitton CEO, and it also means that PFW SS 2014 will be a farewell show from Marc Itself. He presented his amazing works this morning, a celebration of his greatest hits which is all black - same as his first show. The stage contains some part from past shows, like carousel, lift, elevator, fountain, and big clock. Personally I was amazed by his stage, looks a bit unusual yet complicated but still interesting. Marc also said that his last show is dedicated to all women who have inspired him. I'm sure Marc Jacobs will be missed in Louis Vuitton.
I still remember, last year I saw on internet a very interesting painting. It's a painting by Liu Yi and the title is '2008 Beijing'. When I saw the painting for the first time, I thought it's only another ordinary painting, but after I read the analysis of the painting itself, I was like 'Jaw-dropping', It's really an amazing painting with an extraordinary hidden message. I'm sure some of you have ever seen this painting before, but I couldn't help myself to post this magnificent painting in my blog. Below is the detail about the painting I've been talking about.
The oil painting, shown above, is the work of Liu Yi, an expatriate Chinese in Canada. It was shown in New York City on March 6, 2005, under the title of "2008 Beijing."
The girl with tattoos on her back is a Chinese. The one on the left is a Japanese. The one across the Chinese is an American. The one on the right is a Russian. Finally, the one standing is a Taiwanese.
The American looks the best, at the 1st glance at least. The Russian is touching the American with her one foot, while passing cards to the Chinese on the other side. The Japanese looks at her own cards with dedication, focusing on her game without caring much about what's going on around her. The Taiwanese is dressed in a traditional Chinese vest, symbolizing the real inheritance of the Chinese culture. She holds a plate of fruits in one hand, while holding a fruit knife in the other, looking at the Chinese with resentment. But she is not part of the game - Her role is to serve fruits.
The picture on the wall is Mao, with the mustache of Sun Yat-sen and the bold head of Chiang_Kai-shek (Frank's insertion: This is like Ronald Reagan with Lincoln's beard and Jim Carter's smile).
The Chinese woman is topless, with a skirt and a panty. The American woman dresses well on the top but is bottomless. The Russian woman has nothing but the panty left. The Japanese has nothing on at all.
Suppose the game is strip poker. If the Chinese loses, she will loose the skirt, ending up like the Russian (meaning disintegration as a country). If the American loses, she will have one piece left, like the Russian (meaning disintegration as a country). If the Russian loses, she will have nothing left. The Japanese? She has nothing left already.
In summary, the American looks the best for now. But if she loses once more, she will not be the one looking the best. The Russian is working with both the American and the Chinese under the table, because she can't play by herself alone. The Chinese has many hidden cards,
and is willingly working with the Russian under the table. The American can only know what's going on between the Chinese and the Russian by observing the Taiwanese. The Japanese does not know, nor does she care about, what's going on. The Taiwanese can see what's going on, but is not part of the game.
Who is going to win the game? The Chinese or the American! The game is Mahjong, a Chinese game. Can the American win by playing a Chinese game?

Graphic designs are everything that related to creation, including window display. I decided to choose this photo because i can find some area in the display that sparks my interest. First of all, the repetition of yellow-orange hexagons that form a hive of bees as the background caught my attention. Somehow it gives me harmonious feeling, and the designer itself didn't put too much things on the display, so people wouldn't have a feeling of chaos and confusion. I'm sure everyone who passed this display can focused their attention to the clothes (because of the color contrast between clothes and background).
There's so many kinds of batik in Indonesia, yeah because Indonesia got so many region, and every region has their own batik's pattern, but there's one batik that has been my favorite since the first time I saw it pattern. That's Batik Mega Mendung. Batik Mega Mendung is from Cirebon, and this batik has an unique pattern which you can't find it in other region. Even because of it uniqueness, Indonesian Government registered this batik to UNESCO as one of world heritage. Batik Mega Mendung itself were inspired by chinese tradition, in 1600s, one of famous Islamic figure, Sunan Kali Jaga got married to Queen Ong Tien from China, since then, Chinese culture began to spread in Cirebon. Pattern of Batik Mega Mendung is basically represents sky and cloud, and usually has blue and red as it colors.

I still remember how Dolce & Gabbana impressed me with their fashion show last year, with colorful, energetic, vibrant, pattern and prints which you could feel the heat emitting. And this year, they also did the same thing, the fashion show which never fail to impress me. From the first time you see the fashion show itself, you will feel like you're going to tour of roman ruins, collecting the treasures and golds. Coins were blown up to the size of tea plates and joined together, either they made it as a prints or simply a waist cinches or necklaces. Don't forget about their signature these past years: mini dress with wide sleeves. In my opinion they also add some of japanese taste to this show, for example, three cherry blossoms tree as the background and invitation, and some of dresses with cherry blossoms as it decorations. In the end, Dolce & Gabbana ends their show with some red lingerie slip dress. Surely I'm looking forward to their next show.
